AucklandNZ Business Advice Grant - MBIE

Along with the Implementation Grant, the Government also announced a Business Advice grant of up to $3,000. The Business Advice grant was put in place to provide businesses with an opportunity to speak to a specialist about their most immediate challenges, such as their cash flow and/or proposed marketing plans. 

The advice is available to those who are considering closing their businesses or downscale. The intention of advice is to give businesses confidence that they can continue to run stably. 

The grant will be available from December 1st, however you must fit the eligibility criteria outlined. In particular you must:

  • Have less than 100 full time employees
  • Be GST registered
  • Have a NZ Business Number (NZBN)
  • Operate in a commercial environment
  • Be privately owned, or are a Maori Trust, or an incorporation under the Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993 or similar organisation managing Māori assets under multiple ownership  
  • Primarily operate within the Auckland Alert Level 3 Boundary 
  • Be an existing business that was trading before 22 October 2021. 

Marketing advice and support that can be sought includes:

  • General marketing advice

This includes advice on marketing strategies and value proposition development

  • Digital marketing 

This includes digital and online strategies/solutions and website strategy. 

  • Digital Enablement

This includes digital productivity, client interaction strategy/analytics, and operational digitisation.

Marketing expenses that the grant will not cover

  • Historic payments/invoices
  • Ongoing engagement fees for existing professional services on a contract basis
  • Training services
  • Subscription services and membership fees
  • Capital expenditure

How to apply for the business advice grant:

Step 1 Complete the online registration form 

Step 2 Log in to your Community Account.

Step 3 Request a quote from your service provider and apply for your Implementation Grant support.

Step 4 If application is approved and contracts signed, commence work with selected service provider.

Step 5 Tell them when the work is complete to facilitate payment to your service provider.
