How To Install A Facebook Pixel On Your Website

What is a Facebook Pixel?

Facebook pixel is a code that you place on your website. It enables you to collect data and allows businesses to track the conversions from Facebook ads. With this knowledge you can then use Facebook pixel to optimise ads, build targeted audiences for future ads, and then remarket to people who have already visited your website previously.

Why Squid Recommend Facebook Pixel

We know it can be daunting when it comes to codes and analysis but with FaceBook pixel the process of collecting data becomes simplified and achievable. Squid rates FaceBook pixel for a number of reasons but the main draw card is the ability to improve your FaceBook ad conversion rate and increase your return on investment. This is easy digital marketing that specifically targets your audience, gets them making actions on your website and committing to purchases.

How It Works

The FaceBook pixel gives you access to see what actions people take after viewing your FaceBook ad. You can track across devices and gain a better understanding on how people use your website. Whether it’s more common by mobile phone or via their desktop and exactly what products they viewed. This valuable information means you can retarget previous visitors with products they took interest in.

Expanding your potential customers can be achieved by targeting lookalike audiences. What this means is investing your marketing in an audience with very similar interests and history to those of the customers you already have. Facebook Pixel is able to find people who are more than likely going to like your website and what your business has to offer.

The next possibility is then to promote and use your ads more specifically to an audience that are the most likely to make high-value purchases. FaceBook pixel tracking gathers and stores all the information you need to make these critical decisions.

Create a FaceBook Pixel

Making a code for your website can be done in 6 simple steps.

  1. Go to your Pixels tab in Events Manager.
  2. Click Create a pixel.
  3. Read how the pixel works and then click Continue.
  4. Add your pixel name.
  5. Enter your website URL to check for easy setup options.
  6. Click Continue.

As soon as you have created the code for your website there are three different methods of applying it to choose from.

Manually

Go to your website's code and find the header of your website. Take the code and paste it at the bottom of the header section which you can find just above the closing head tag. Next click the toggle to turn Automatic advanced matching on or off. After placing the code on your website, enter its URL and click Send Test Traffic to make sure that your pixel's working properly. If your status says "Active", your base code has been installed correctly. This can take several minutes to update.

Use a Partner Integration

  • Go to the Pixels tab in Events Manager.
  • Click Set up pixel.
  • Click Use a partner integration.
  • Select a partner from the list.
  • Follow the on-screen setup instructions.

Email Instructions

If someone else updates the code on your website, follow these steps to email them your Facebook pixel setup instructions.

  1. Go to the Pixels tab in Events Manager.
  2. Click Set up pixel.
  3. Click Email instructions.
  4. Enter the recipient's email address.
  5. Click Send at the bottom of the page.

What Next?

Now with your FaceBook Pixel all set up and a list of goals to improve your digital marketing the next step is to set up events. After you add the pixel base code to your website, you can set up events to measure the actions you care about, such as making a purchase. You can do this by manually installing the code or by using the point-and-click Event Setup tool

Events simply put are the actions your website visitors take such as adding to cart and purchasing. There are 17 actions in the FaceBook Pixel system that you can apply and there is also the option to create your own custom events to fit your needs.
